Starting components on Linux systems

To start the database and Tomcat on Linux you need to be running as root.

Reviewers: are all of these steps necessary if the user ran the Linux installer? D
  1. Start the database.
  2. If you installed a new instance of Tomcat, set the JAVA_HOME environment variable to $ROLLBASE_HOME%/jre.
  3. Start the server.
If you have installed a new instance of Tomcat, start it by running the Tomcat startup.sh script, which by default is found in <TOMCAT_HOME>\bin.
Note: Ensure that you are using Platform supported Apache Tomcat version.
  4. Enter http://localhost:8080 in your browser.
The Tomcat welcome page should display. If it does not, check to make sure that JRE_HOME is set properly and that you have administrative privileges.
  5. Log in using the URL and temporary password from the welcome email. This email was sent to the Administrative email user specified in the Shared Properties . Click the Refresh link if no data is shown.
  6. Change the temporary password.
  7. From the Applications drop-down menu, select System Console and verify that all components are running.
  8. Verify that all applications described in Private Cloud Applications are successfully installed.
